About Le Château d'Eau - Pôle photographique de Toulouse
Le Château d'Eau is a cultural institution in Toulouse dedicated exclusively to photography. Founded in 1974 by photographer Jean Dieuzaide, it was the first public gallery in France focused on this medium. The venue is housed in a historic 19th-century brick water tower, which has been listed as a historical monument since 1987. It serves as a space for exhibiting both established photographers and emerging talent.
Beyond its exhibition galleries, the institution features a documentation center that became a municipal public library in 2020. This library provides public access to a collection of approximately 15,000 books on photography, as well as international journals and magazines. The site also includes a shop selling books, posters, and accessories, and offers a garden space for visitors.
