How Much Does a Plumber Cost in Portugal? (2026 Price Guide)

Quick answer

Most plumbers in Portugal charge a call-out fee of €30–€60 plus €25–€45 per hour of labour. Simple jobs usually land between €60 and €150 including the visit. Prices in Lisbon and the Algarve tend to sit at the top of these ranges; Braga, Coimbra and inland towns are usually cheaper.

These are indicative ranges gathered from typical quotes. Always ask for a written quote (orçamento) before work starts.

Typical prices by job

What pushes the price up

• Nights, weekends and public holidays: expect a 50–100% surcharge.
• Access: pipes behind tiles mean opening and re-tiling walls.
• Old buildings: galvanised pipes in older Lisbon and Porto flats often need sections replaced, not patched.
• Parts: ask whether parts are included or billed separately.

How to avoid overpaying

1. Describe the problem clearly by phone and send a photo or video on WhatsApp.
2. Ask for the call-out fee and hourly rate before the visit.
3. Get at least two quotes for anything over €200.
4. Ask for an invoice with your NIF (fatura com NIF). It also protects you if the repair fails.

When it's an emergency

If water is pouring through a ceiling or you can't stop a leak, close the main water valve (usually near the meter) first. Then call an emergency plumber; the surcharge is usually cheaper than water damage.
